Wandering Crusader #293 Get Understanding

Most people are familiar with Jesus’ proclamation that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is also Understanding. Solomon was writing in this passage the words that God was speaking. God offers many wonderful promises in this chapter. All of them seem to hinge on gaining understanding.

The most important thing to understand is that He lives and Creation flowed from His eternal life. He is the First Cause, the source of all that is. There is no right understanding in the world apart from understanding that basic fact. Once you understand that there is a self-existent, I AM, you may proceed on sure footing to wisdom, truth, and virtue.

Understanding who God is, opens the way to understanding love, for God is love. It seems ironic that because God loves perfectly, mankind and our world are in the shape they’re in. God’s love exists independently of Creation. He has always been, and always will be, love. However, His love seeks reciprocity and for that to happen in any real sense, man must have the freewill to choose or reject love. God’s love already surrounds us. The one thing He seeks from us is to love Him in return.

God wants our love eternally. That is, He desires for us to love Him every moment of every day for as long as we live. If we accept His offer of love, we reap the benefits of a loving relationship with the Creator. If we reject His love, He does not force us to love Him. He grants our desire to live apart from Him.

Understanding reveals what an elevated position God has placed us in that we may choose our own eternal destiny. To be held in such high regard by the Almighty is evidence of His love for us. God is the understanding that lights the path to the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
