For in him (Christ) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: Colossians 2:10
In the simple seed of an orange resides all that is needed for it to become a tree that produces fruit for as long as it lives. The same is true of all those in Christ. We are born in Him complete. We need no more faith, no more talent, and no more power. We only need to let what is in us grow to fruition.
Though they possess everything they need, trees do not spring from the ground fully formed. Nor do they become trees overnight. To be transformed from a tiny seed into a fruit-bearing tree is a long process. The power that drives that process is inherent in the seed. Plant a seed and it will begin to grow. It has life within it.
Christ’s life is given to everyone who accepts salvation. It is a seed of life which struggles to grow, but it is complete. In that seed lives a tree that bears life after its kind. We can’t see the branches, the leaves, the blooms, or the fruit yet, but they are there. Under the care of the husbandman, they will be coaxed from the seed and nourished.
It is a long, sometimes painful, process. Some branches will need to be pruned. Dry spells and floods will need to be survived. Winds will damage other branches. Nevertheless, growth goes on and fruit continues to grow.
Christ is the complete expression of the Father, all that the Father is, can be seen in Christ. So, those who are Christ’s have His life in them and will grow into a complete expression of Him. Bearing His likeness, we will bear His fruit—new life to glorify the Father.
