A double minded person is unstable in all their ways.
Principle is inviolate regardless of circumstance. If you state a principle for life, live it. This kind of fidelity to yourself will not necessarily make you feel good, it will make you a person of integrity whose word is to be trusted.
Stating your principles is throwing down the gauntlet to the world. It is an open challenge to prove you wrong by throwing circumstances and people against you to back you off your word.
I hear people complain at about all the “judgers” offended by the things they say. How is it you expected otherwise? You can not live a life at odds with social norms and not be singled out. If you cannot handle that surrender and join the mainstream.
Who can doubt that love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance are at variance with the actions of modern American society? Notice I did not say at variance with the words of modern society. Love not in word, but in deed.
Social media has given everyone an outlet to speak great swelling words so that they may appear to hold to humanity. Meanwhile they bite and devour one another.
Words have power—no surprise coming from a writer—however, the power of words is not in the speaking of them but the living of them. It is your life that gives power to your words. Otherwise you are a meme to be passed over with a laugh.
